Mantoux Premiere @ After Dark

Mantoux, for mezzo-soprano and cello, will recieve its premiere on Saturday 10 September at After Dark. All the works on the program will be performed by Halcyon, specifically Halcyon artistic director Jenny Duck-Chong and cellist James Larsen.

Mantoux was written in collaboration with writer Laurence Barratt-Manning, who wrote the text specifically for the work. This short work is concerned with the life of Austrian-American film director Edgar G. Ulmer and explores themes of contamination, artistic compromise and absolution. Read more here.

The concert is an all Australian music affair, and features the three other works that were commissioned by Halcyon in 2020. These compositions are by Nicole Murphy, Cameron Lam and Luke Styles.

The performance also includes premieres by Aristea Mellos, Alisha Redmond, Brad Taylor-Newling and Andrew Ford and recent works by Alan Holley, Gordon Kerry and Gillian Whitehead.
