The Tower - Syzygy Ensemble

Thursday March 24 2022 will see the amazing Syzygy Ensemble premiere my 13 minute quintet The Tower. Tickets for this Melbourne Recital Hall gig are available here.

The writing of The Tower was made possible by the newly established Echo Commission. This iniative was set in motion with great generosity by composer Rosalind Page. Rosalind also initiated the MOMENTUM commissions, of which the first was awarded to composer and multi-instrumentalist Rae Howell. Read more about Rosalind’s Creative Philanthropy and Kindness here.

Syzygy has championed Rosalind’s work, and with great reason: it’s superb music. And Syzygy are superb musicians. Proof:

I first met Rosalind 10 years ago when our piano music was performed by Zubin Kanga at the Melbourne Recital Centre. You can find recordings of these pieces, along with other Australian composers, here.

The Tower will be performed alongside premieres of works by Zinia Chan, Keyna Wilkins and Cyrus Meurant. What a treat: 4 world premieres in one concert! Hats off to all involved. And in my case, particular thanks to you Rosalind.
