PROGRAM NOTE: The title Millennial refers to three things:

The Millennial Clave: a rhythmic pattern that can be found in popular music today. This pattern is clearly first heard in the baritone saxophone at the beginning of the work.

Millennialism: the belief in some religions that a Golden Age or period of Paradise will occur on Earth prior to the Final Judgement. The Cambridge Dictionary lists a definition of Millennium as ‘a utopian period of justice, peace and prosperity’.  

The Millennial Generation: those born in 1981-1996. I’m one of those. 

Millennial is dedicated to Hayes and Noah van der Meer for their continual generosity of spirit and so-called humour.
